"Dotty Dots" and a slice of Pi from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

I just couldn't think up a better name, so "Dotty Dots" it is.  After seeing my friend, Darlene make a circle quilt, it inspired me to make one too.

Since it is National Pi Day .... this is the perfect quilt to show.  Lots and lots of circles.  So why pi and circles?  Because pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter and now you know why there are lots of quilts with circles being shown today.  To celebrate,  we will have meat pie (tourtiere) and a salad for supper tonight and perhaps a round cookie ...

Happy Pi Day 2022 from Fret Not Yourself

It's strange that one of the definitions of "empty" is: to remove from what holds or encloses. And one of its definitions of the word 'freedom" is: not bound or confined or detained by force.

Happy Pi Day! Every year more and more schools and companies celebrate this odd little holiday. Two friends told me their companies started this year with free pizzas and pie for lunch.

Here are the circles I finished this year. Most are one I worked on last year. At least they are now done.

The Wheel quilt is on the guest bed ...

My largest circle quilt was the Wheel although it's not back from the longarm quilter.

I also appliqued circles on several quilts including the String Tulips

and Mars on my newest grandchild's Christmas stocking

and the Shadow Star sashing. The eight-pointed stars also look circular, probably because they are drafted with radii, and arcs.

Pi Day 2021 from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Today is Pi Day.  Let's see what I've done with circles so far this year.

Back in January, my "Wheels on the Cart" top got finished.  This top is at the LAer and I'm hoping to pick it up on Tuesday along with another two quilts.  Anticipation!!

"Lotta Tulips" is still at this stage.  Borders need to be added.  Talk about circles in this top!  Gazillions.
Circles are my go-to in helping to complete the look that I'm aiming for and these were delightful to add to my "Dutch Apple" core top.  Dutch Apple is the ...

Pi Day 2020 from Fret Not Yourself

"Hope is the choice we make to see the light,
even while recognizing the inevitable presence of darkness."
~Rabbi Nancy Kasten

Wonders never cease. Pi Day is Saturday and I'm currently working on a circle quilt as it approaches. In fact, the top is sewn. Sort of. Maybe I'm moving forward; maybe I'm standing on quicksand. I'm not sure. But I have sewn plain white sashing and posts to the Shadow Stars. While it's not as visually appealing as the green compasses, it's not lumpy and twisted either.

Shadow Star quilt with plain white ...
